Why Platnium?

We design our rings to last a lifetime and beyond, which is why we exclusively set all our diamonds in platinum. Platinum is the most secure metal for diamonds and other gemstones, offering unmatched durability. Its rich white luster deepens over time, forming a beautiful patina that enhances its authenticity and long-lasting value. Not only is platinum incredibly strong, but it is also hypoallergenic, making it the perfect metal for sensitive skin and ideal for everyday wear, ensuring it remains timeless. Platinum is the reason why your grandmother's platinum ring is still strong—and it’s why your ring will endure for generations to come.

Gold

Fun fact: all the gold found on Earth originates from the debris of dead stars.

At No.3 Jewellers and Co., we proudly use only 100% Australian gold, fully compliant with the LBMA, OECD, and World Gold Council's Conflict Gold Policies. Our supplier is dedicated to ethically sourcing gold and ensures traceability directly to the primary source. They employ cutting-edge, zero-emission refining technology and collaborate with clients to uphold international standards in environmental, community, health, and industrial practices.

Let's talk diamonds

To keep things simple, we only use diamonds that fall within the highest quality range of the GIA colour scale-E to F colour and VVS to VS clarity.

When grading diamonds, there are four main categories: cut, colour , clarity, and carat.

Cut

Cut refers to the shape of the diamond and the proportions between the table, crown, and pavilion, which are crucial for maximizing brilliance—how brightly the diamond shines. Rest assured, our diamonds are exceptionally brilliant.

Colour

Colour refers to the actual colour of the diamond—no surprises there. E to F colour is considered rare white, often called "colourless," meaning clear and pure. A diamond’s sparkle comes from sunlight entering through its table and crown facets, then reflecting back up through the top. Refraction is what creates the vibrant display of colours in the diamond.

Clarity

Clarity refers to what’s visible within the diamond when viewed with a 10x magnification loupe. VS stands for "very small inclusions," while VVS means "very, very small inclusions." These inclusions are so tiny that they aren’t visible to the naked eye. This is often referred to as "eye clean," although that term is typically used for coloured stones.

Carat (ct) and points (pts)

Refer to the weight of the diamond. Eg. 100pts is equal to 1ct.

ETHICS

The ethics surrounding the debate between natural and lab grown
diamonds are complex and diverse, and include both environmental and
social considerations. Many claim that lab grown diamonds are more
environmentally friendly, while others argue that ethically mined
diamonds provide much needed employment and have a positive impact on
communities in developing countries through initiatives such as Diamonds
Do Good.

Essentially, ethics are personal, so we’ve chosen to offer
both natural and lab grown diamonds so that you can select a stone that
aligns with your personal ethos. Our natural diamonds are ethically
sourced and are Kimberley Process Certified conflict-free.
